Cactus (OMN: No. 375)
A
s one of the flagship patterns for Greentown's Chocolate Glass, the Cactus line debuted in 1901, with the strongest selling in 1902 and 1903. The line was originally advertised as "Mexican Onyx", "Chocolate Ivory", or "Holland Ivory", however, in the 1920's, the name Cactus caught on with collectors. There has been much speculation as to the similarities between the Cactus pattern and the Herringbone Buttress pattern (OMN: No. 140). Cactus can be found primarily in Chocolate and is not extremely uncommon to be found in Crystal. Very few pieces have been found in Nile Green and Canary, and, although fragments have been found in blue and white, no know examples exist.
